The motherboard of the PM867 controller has two RJ45 Ethernet ports (CN1, CN2) for connecting to the control network and two RJ45 serial ports (COM3, COM4). One of the serial ports (COM3) is an RS-232C port with a modem control signal, while the other port (COM4) is isolated and used to connect configuration tools. This controller supports CPU redundancy to achieve higher availability (CPU, CEX-Bus, communication interface, and S800 I/O).

The high integrity function is achieved by adding the SM812 module and SIL authentication software. The AC 800M high integrity also provides a control environment certified by IEC 61508 and T Ü V, integrating safety and critical business process control into one controller unit without sacrificing safety integrity.
